A study is made of the possible holonomy group types of a space-time for which the energy-momentum tensor corresponds to a null or non-null electromagnetic field, a perfect fluid or a massive scalar field. The case of an Einstein space is also included. The techniques developed are also applied to vacuum and conformally flat space-times and contrasted with already known results in these two cas...
متن کاملThe Spin Holonomy Group in General Relativity
It has recently been shown by Goldberg et al that the holonomy group of the chiral spin-connection is preserved under time evolution in vacuum general relativity. Here, the underlying reason for the timeindependence of the holonomy group is traced to the self-duality of the curvature 2-form for an Einstein space. This observation reveals that the holonomy group is time-independent not only in v...

It is shown using a space-time curvature classification and decomposition that for certain holonomy types of a space-time, proper projec-tive vector fields cannot exist. Existence is confirmed, by example, for the remaining holonomy types. In all except the most general holon-omy type, a local uniqueness theorem for proper projective symmetry is established.
متن کاملConformal holonomy, symmetric spaces, and skew symmetric torsion
We consider the question: can the isotropy representation of an irreducible pseudoRiemannian symmetric space be realized as a conformal holonomy group? Using recent results of Čap, Gover and Hammerl, we study the representations of SO(2, 1), PSU(2, 1) and PSp(2, 1) as isotropy groups of irreducible symmetric spaces of signature (3, 2), (4, 4) and (6, 8), respectively, describing the geometry in...
متن کاملVery Special Relativity in Curved Space-Times
The generalization of Cohen and Glashow’s Very Special Relativity to curved space-times is considered. Gauging the SIM(2) symmetry does not, in general, provide the coupling to the gravitational background. However, locally SIM(2) invariant Lagrangians can always be constructed. For space-times with SIM(2) holonomy, they describe chiral fermions propagating freely as massive particles.
